For forklift distributor Black Control Box, knowing who used each machine was a missing piece of fleet management. We built BCB Kiosk, an app on the machine’s display that connects operator identification, access controls, and operating data.

Fleet owners gain clearer accountability, while operators get a simple interface for tasks, working time, and warnings.

Key outcomes
  1. Operator identification linked to machine access
  2. A focused interface for everyday work at the machine
  3. Connected operating data for the wider service team
  4. An app that keeps users inside the intended workflow

Improved accountability by connecting each machine to its operator.

The distributor had limited visibility into how customers used its machines. Rented equipment could return worn or damaged, with little accountability.

We connected driver identification to the hardware that enables the starter. Operators sign in through the display, giving the business a clear link between the person and the machine.

Operator PIN entry before accessing the machine

Gave fleet owners control over who could start each machine.

Identification is connected to the machine itself. After successful authentication, the device enables access through the starter relay. Supported machines can also be disabled remotely.

We kept the operator app in kiosk mode, restricting access to the underlying Android system. People stay in the tool built for their job.

Made machine warnings easier to spot with a focused operator display.

Many operators have limited experience with digital tools. The display needed to communicate clearly, even when there was a lot happening around it.

We designed a focused interface for working time, machine status, and warnings. Connected sensors provide operating data that the service team can use for a fuller picture of the equipment.

Simple task list for the machine operator

Made daily tasks easier to follow without leaving the machine’s interface.

The app brings useful information and tasks to the place where the work happens. Operators can check what is next without leaving the machine’s interface.

Together with BCB Cloud, it connects the operator’s daily work with the people planning maintenance. Fleet owners can manage access while the team works from shared operating information.

Made the app easier to maintain and consistent across supported devices.

We took over a partially developed application, reviewed it against the requirements, and rebuilt it in Flutter. That gave the client a consistent product across supported devices and a simpler foundation to maintain.

We tested the hardware connection and kiosk restrictions alongside the interface. Clear priorities kept the work focused on reliable access, useful information, and an app operators could use with confidence.
